Our History
ASAK Brothers and Sisters in Islam.
I would like to welcome all of you on behalf of Masjid Al-Sahaabah and the Islamic Association of Fort Worth (IAFW).
Please allow us to give our audience; a short history summary of Masjid Al-Sahaabah:
The Islamic Association of Fort Worth is currently running an Islamic Center in the South part of Fort Worth. Due to the sudden influx of Muslims in North Fort Worth in the mid 90's, IAFW established a temporary Musallah in the area. The BlueMound Musallah; a 700sqft clubhouse adjacent to a motel. Since there are hundreds of Muslim families in the area, within a short span this musallah had quickly outgrew the needs of the community. It also lacked the necessary facilities to establish a Madressa.
A large majority of people performing Salaat in this Musallah came from the nearby cities of Watauga, Bluemound, Keller, North Richland Hills, Haltom City and the Summerfield area of Fort Worth, where there is no Masjid. Members of these communities had requested IAFW establish a Masjid in any one of these cities. Since Watauga is centrally situated, a Masjid in this area would also serve the needs of the surrounding cities.
In October 2000, the City Council of Watauga approved the purchase of the property for the purpose of having an Islamic Center. Alhamdullillah, in the Fall of 2000, the Islamic Association of Fort Worth purchased a 2.3 acre property in the city of Watauga. This property already had a 2,300 square foot 2 bedroom house.

(Pre-Construction)
Second property 1.8 acres.
Plans to convert this house into a masjid were shelved in favor of building a new masjid, because it was cost prohibitive to convert this existing house which was built in the 1950's to comply with existing city codes.
We spent the next couple of years paying off the loans on the original purchase of the property as well as making improvements to the property for community use. Ex: Muslims from the above mentioned communities as well as other surrounding communities came together and helped build a 600ft privacy fence, helped with donations, and volunteered there personal time to help assist in completion many other projects.
In the fall of 2002, the city of Watauga approved the plans for construction of the first phase of our Masjid Al-Sahaabah.
Alhamdullillah, we have completed the engineering and civil work (water and sewer lines) and the parking lot. By the grace of Allah(swt) we were able to complete payment for all this work.
Our next phase was the construction of Masjid Al-Sahaabah. The construction was a turn-key (ready with Certificate of Occupancy) solution.
The brothers and sisters involved with this project have worked very hard to dedicate their personal time and efforts to see this project to completion. We had brothers that have been laid of from the recent economic downturn and yet worked untiringly to help establish Masjid Al-Sahaabah.
I pray that Allah SWT give us all the strength and fortitude to be a Mukhlis in our persevering efforts to see the building of a true Islamic community.
